Dear Community:

We have a third update on the Federal Court Decision involving the Canada Revenue Agency and eBay Canada.

Recently, I posted here to inform you about the Federal Court Decision involving the Canada Revenue Agency and eBay. This decision requires eBay to release certain customer information regarding Canadian PowerSellers to the Canada Revenue Agency.

Having sought out all available legal courses of action, eBay has decided to appeal this ruling. eBay takes your privacy very seriously, and we will continue to defend it vigorously.

The court decision relates to members who held PowerSeller status during the years of 2004 and 2005. You should know that a change in members’ PowerSeller status at this time will not alter our information disclosure requirements.

Of course, every business and individual in Canada should calculate their taxes fairly and pay them promptly. Please remember that all sellers are responsible for ensuring that they are in compliance with all local laws and regulations relating to their activities online.

We will keep you informed of new developments as they occur.
