That is how the free market capitalist system works.

You buy things at one price and sell them at a higher price.

Hello 'philpott',

It may depend on how you define "right". 🙂  If I may be brutally blunt, - 'what ebay is about'  is buying and selling.  It is not unusual for sellers to nab things at a low price and sell for much more.  They're sellers.  They sell.  If someone lists an item at a price you find too high, don't buy.

Ebay can still be a place to get good deals.  I've gotten items for so little I felt dirty and ashamed.  I have also bought items that were at a price I was willing to pay, only to find the same thing sell for much less a few weeks later.  Oh well, it's all part of the game, and it's all fun.

If there is something you want, - have a price in mind and keep checking.  Now is a great time to buy because sales are down everywhere due largely to the economic slump and so prices on most things are wonderfully buyer-friendly.

What the seller you describe is doing is perfectly acceptable.  There is a saying around here, - "All's fair in love and war, ... and auctions."  Something like that.  Keep checking for your items.  Sooner or later you'll find what you want at a price you are comfortable paying.  And it may be that you get it because you are willing to outbid someone who was hoping to get it for too little.

For buyers, the goal of ebay is to find what you want at a price you are willing to pay. for sellers, the goal is to discover items that people are willing to buy and to sell them at a price that makes them a decent profit.

1. This is a venue to buy and sell. It is not a casino so there are no "bets" being made. They are called bids.

2. You stated "not a place fo someone to buy up the good deal and up the prices."

Please provide the ebay policy you based your statement on.

You've been on ebay for a number of years. Many sellers use one ID to buy and other to sell so you have no idea how many of your previous sellers have bought items really cheap on ebay or elsewhere and sold them to you and made a profit. Sellers do not come to ebay to lose money but to make it.

I once bought something for $5, listed it on ebay for $6 thinking it would sell for around $10. It sold for $54. Nothing wrong with that.

As for the items you reference, just because the seller listed an item for $310, there is no guarantee someone will buy it if they think it's too high but you never know.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.
