It is time to provide SORT -> for local currency.

Sellers, if not interested to sell in local currency, that is their problem.  If I shop at Amazon Canada, prices are in Canadian dollars, or for that matter, currency is in country specific.  For me, it is extra charge as paypal charges nearly 5% exchange rate, which adds to the cost of purchase.  It would be nice, if there  It would be nice, if, under sort; ending soon, or nearest first etc, there is a choice to sort for local currency listings as well, than going through hundreds of listings.  It would be great help!

At which point?

If the seller lists on dotCA in loonies, but will sell to Germany which uses euros, the item will show on the German site in Search in euros.

If the customer opens the listing, it shows, still on the German site with price both in loonies and in euros.

Part of the problem is that the price conversion is always approximate.

The loonie is volatile, within a penny or two, and can bounce up and down a few times a day.

So if the price of a Canadian item shows in both your currency and the Canadian loonie, pay as quickly as possible for your best chance to "lock in" the price you saw.

One of the benefits of eBay is that it is an international site and buyers can see available items from all over the world.

If you don't want this, your best bet is to set your Search (on the left side of the screen)  using the Item Location dropdown and  reduce the number of items available to show only your own country.

Six or seven years ago you could select currency in the advanced options.

That disappeared when eBay started displaying currency conversion estimates.

This may get improved when eBay switches from PayPal to Ayden for payment processing in 2021 (with hopefully a more accurate conversion rate used for display).

...

PayPal's exchange rate for Canada/USA is 2.5% if done before buying (between balances), or 2.9% if done as part of the purchase transaction.

Exchange rates for other currencies are higher.

Paying the price is not a problem, despite conversion. It is the PayPal, that adds up another 2% - 3%. Paypal will not allow to keep funds in US dollars!

You nailed it! I dislike paying that conversion rate to PayPal. PayPal does not allow to keep US funds account for Canadian shoppers. Wonder, how, Amazon makes all sellers on Amazon dot ca to deal in Canadian currencies.

Yes they do.

Or in euros or yen or Australian dollars.

If you are in Canada and selling on dotCOM you will be paid in USdollars and if you have your PP set up to accept them as such, you will have two balances, one US one Canadian.

However, it would then be useful to set up a US bank account (NOT a US dollar account in a Canadian bank) with a bank like TDNorth or RBCBank.

They are connected with TD and with the Royal. They are often advertised in branches around snowbird season.

We deposit our US payments from PP to our RBCBank account.

We can move US funds from RBCBank to our Royal Bank account without paying exchange.

We do pay exchange when we move the US funds from our Royal U$ account to our Royal Cdn funds account.

You can't eliminate listings in other currencies but you can set it up so that when you search, you will see which currency the listing was done in so that if you don't want to buy a listing with US currency you will see which listings not to click on.   Go to the top of the search page and on the right click on 'view' and 'customize'. Uncheck - show listings in Canadian dollars.  Then whenever you search you will see a $C if the listing currency is in Canadian dollars.
