Scammed by eBay/seller omega watch

Hello, I was recently scammed by Ebay via a savvy scammer seller. Total of 2500 usd. The scam was for an Omega watch that was listed in a category that is not covered by eBay’s money back policy. Of course that is in the fine print and I made a big mistake by not reading the fine print. Ebay said that the seller closed the account and that I need to contact my money provider, then they deleted the item….mastercard only gives a maximum of 1000 dollars for a scam, so if they do refund me I am still out of pocket 1500 usd. Ebay made money off of this scam!!
I was also sent an official ebay email from ebay@ebay.com that said my package had been delivered. It had a fedex number attached to it that was legitimate. The fedex number was however NOT attached to my name or address although the notification had my correct info on it.
The fedex email is VERY suspicious behaviour from ebay.
Does anyone know if I can do anything about this?
Obviously ebay cannot, will not help. I have a pile of photos ect and the emails as evidence…any watchdogs or help to get my story out so that other wristwatch enthusiasts don’t get scammed like I did.

BEWARE WRISTWATCH ENTHUSIASTS!! OMEGA SCAM!!

I agree that many probably most buyers do not Search by category, and probably never notice if their find is in the wrong category, whether because of carelessness or fraud on the part of the seller.

Ebay said that the seller closed the account

More likely the account was closed by eBay, since member accounts take nearly six months to be fully closed, in part because of financial obligations like this.

Were you talking to a phone rep?

They are notorious for bad advice.

Try the social media chats.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

I'm a little surprised that MasterCard has such limited chargeback coverage.

Did you recieve anything? Was the watch you were sent counterfeit?
