USPS First Class Package from USA to Canada - last tracking update 2 weeks ago

Hoping for some guidance here. Ordered a package from the US to Canada. Tracking was being updated regularly then 16 days ago the last update was "in transit to next facility". Checking the CanadaPost website shows that they are still waiting for the package.

Is this normal for First Class packages?

Trackng doesn’t always get scanned at each stop but it does seem unusual that there has been no scan by Canada Post as it left the international processing center 17 days ago.  I usually wait a month before I file a claim for a missing US package but you are entitled to open an item not received claim the day after the last estimated delivery date in your purchase history.  If you receive the package and you have been refunded, you can repay the seller.

You may want to get a hold of your seller and let them know it seems to be held up in customs. It's usually easier for the shipper to open a trace. Was your item of a questionable nature? Customs can stop those in their tracks. You can also sign up for tracking updates with both USPS and Canadapost if anything does happen to change with its status.
