What is with all the listings stating they "may" not ship to Canada?

Why are so many US sellers declining to sell to Canadian buyers? and why is eBay making it impossible to ask sellers if they will ship to Canada? Many of us use courier services and can send prepaid labels, but have no way of contacting sellers to even ask as eBay will not allow the question to be forwarded to seller.

You can ask easily.
On every listing there is a link (top right- in the box) that takes you to Contact Seller.
Use the "Other" button  since the others usually are FAQs and not helpful.
If the seller will not answer questions, you don't want to deal with him. It will not get better.

About couriers.

If you offer to send a courier label to the seller, you are likely to be refused and put on their Blocked Bidder List, since this is also the first step in a known scam.

@bro-comm

There appears to be a bit of a glitch with some US sellers regarding the contact links. In checking I have been able to confirm this seems to only happen in the one direction.

The listings link for message a seller may only let you view the pre-programmed answers. Messaging direcly is blocked. (Only option it allows is check the available answers.)

If you use the contact link from either the feedback page or store page you will be able to complete the message process. Please note: Some sellers may have all mail features turn off due to volume of mail they receive. Personally, not really a smart business decision but to each their own.

Was not aware that sending a prepaid shipping label prefaced any scam. It's what buyers do regularly when they buy something at other online auctions. What is the issue here?

This thread is a few years old but it still contains useful information:
