Ebay help (less)

I am a seller. I recently had an issue when the buyer never received the item opened a case and wanted a refund. It happens and I have no problem issuing a refund. My frustration is with the Ebay help system. I spent hours trying to get some help from the AI driven help system that Ebay employs, but it just went in circles or dead ends. The system even suggested that I needed to adress the problem with the platform I sold the item on. I sold the item on Ebay.ca but the AI Ebay help stated that I must go through Ebay.com because that is were I sold the item, which was not true. At that point the help was a dead end and did not let me proceed.  I am sure Ebay saves $$ by using computers to run their help system, but the old Call back system were you could talk to an agent was superior and was a strength of Ebay. Its a lost not to have the call back system and I rate Ebay a lot lower than in the past.  More frequently I turn to Facebook Marketplace & Amazon for selling and buying.

I used to contact them with the ebay chat so i see what you mean. Their bot is new and there is indeed loops and dead ends. They probably did that because too many people were contacting them for basic and frequently asked questions. It's dumb but if you mess up with the bot at some point they suggest you to contact and talk to an agent. This is what i do everytime.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.
