Global Shipping

I would like to hear from others who do not use the Global Shipping Method of sending their parcels. Do you find a drop in your sales because you don't use it. Do you think the customers prefer to pay more for this method of shipping?

Global Shipping

Ummmm.

The Global Shipping Program was introduced because US sellers are provincial and xenophobic. Most would not even consider shipping outside the lower 48 never mind to Hawaii (which every right thinkin Murrican knows is in Kenya) or Puerto Rico.

With sales from US sellers flat, eBay introduced the GSP which allows US sellers to ship with cheap domestic confirmation of delivery to the GSP plant in Kentucky, where their responsibility for delivery ended.

Any US seller using the program is showing his items to a worldwide audience of 7 billion instead of only the US customer base of 330 million. Most will have seen increased sales as a result.

The GSP has since been extended to UK sellers, who seem to be unwilling even to ship to Europe in spite of being part of the European Common Market for decades.

Canadian sellers do not use the Global Shipping Program. We are used to dealing with international sales and with multiple currencies.

The GSP is not designed for buyers and Canadian buyers are well advised to avoid buying from sellers who use it.

I am in Canada and totally avoid any items which use the Global Shipping Program because it fraudulently charges import duties on items which are exempt under NAFTA and GATT. If a Canadian uses it and discovers that no duty was levied by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), there's no recourse for a refund from the Global Shipping Program. It doesn't take much effort for a seller in the USA to personally export items to Canada. Just fill out the required form, pay the shipping, send.
