Shipped item stuck in KY?

I bought an item on July 1st, the seller gave me the tracking number on the 15th as it hadn't arrived yet and the listing said it hadn't been shipped yet. The tracking number says the item has been in KY since the 5th? Does the tracking number change or is no longer valid after it goes through the PB facility?

The tracking number you see is the USPS one that the seller used to get the item to the Global Shipping Program plant in Kentucky.

So it is dead, having done its job.

The rest of the trip to your doorstep has nothing to do with USPS.

There will be some sort of internal tracking number so that Pitney Bowes doesn't misplace items. But it is internal and while posters report them now and then there is nothing public that tells you where your item actually is.

However, that is totally irrelevant.

If the item doesn't show up on your doorstep by Day 20 after purchase, open an Item Not Received dispute with eBay/Paypal. You actually have up to 45 days for this, but 20 is enough since you know it got to Kentucky.

Today is Day 17 since purchase.

If GSP/PB can't show delivery, you will be refunded.

Now when it turns up after you have been refunded, you have an ethical dilemma. The seller has his money so you don't need to pay him. PB doesn't want the item back. And there is no way to pay PB back the refund.

Because it will turn up. Probably tomorrow, maybe Monday. Might be Canada Post, might be CanPar.
