eBay ID form BROKEN!

Who made the moronic decision to withhold payments without a driver’s license or passport; but not allow the the document number to be entered — the form doesn’t work!

So now, after 18 years of being an eBay member, I have thousands of dollars on hold because I can’t complete the form!

Does eBay really want to LOWER Sales?! First they abolish the ease of using PayPal, now this!

I just scanned my passport and uploaded that. No problem.

I did have problems with my bank account, which took a month and a half to resolve.

There is no option to send a photo. Only a passport or drivers license ID number. Which doesn’t work, you can’t press send.

Are you trying to fill out the form on the .com site rather than the .ca site?

What browser are you using?

I have had  to use firefox in privacy mode for somethings because of poor button coding on ebay.ca

...

When asked for passport or drivers license, I was only asked for the number, no image required.

Hi, I tried Chrome, which eBay Support told me was their preferred browser. Also tried Safari on OS X and iOS. Neither worked.
After entering all the requested info, pressing Send brings up an error that insufficient information was entered.

Good point; but on .ca. Following the link provided by eBay.

You guys are aware that eBay will be hacked at some point, and we’ll get a “deep apology” about our passports, drivers licenses, and bank account info that’s been leaked. This is all so very stupid, when the world is moving to crypto… but I digress…

Hey @surge2017 just wondering if the issue is resolved on  your end.

I'm having the exact same issue. Tried different browsers with no luck. Contacted Ebay support on Aug 26 and was told that this issue will be fixed in 3 business days?

Hi @surge2017 & @sportscard.trade - I'm not a specialist when it comes to onboarding into payments, but I have some troubleshooting that may help!

First - the dreaded 'clear your cache and cookies'. I know, I hate it too, but it can help clear out fields

Second - please try in the Google Chrome browser

Third - please enter the number without any spaces, and click into every field in the form. You don't need to input anything if it's not applicable to you, but clicking into each field can help.

If you're still running into this issue after trying those steps please reply to this thread and let me know which type of number you're using (Driver License or Passport - I do not need the actual number, just the type).

2. Chrome is my default browser. I have also tried the firefox and mobile app. Same error

3. For the driver's license I have tried with or without dashes, no spaces, clicked on all fields, and same error.

4. Tried on both .com and .ca, same error.

Since I don't have a passport I cannot use a real passport ID, but same issue if I switched to password and enter some random number. Below are the screenshot that I got (both my name and ID number removed by PS for security reason)

When I chatted with one of your representative (Chat Transcript - SR# 1-372802023027) I was told that it was a known error and it will be fixed in 3 business days (hopefully fix in Sept 1) But seeing this issue was existed back in June (https://community.ebay.ca/t5/Seller-Central/Government-ID-verification-for-MP-glitch/m-p/465814#M129...) makes me think that ebay doesn't care. Ebay  asked for my driver's license / passport AFTER I sold something on ebay. And now all my money is on hold.

Just checked today and this account is working fine with Simplii and with my passport- sent as a jpg.

(As background, passports can be renewed every five or every ten years. The old passport number expires with the passport.)

But on another account, I was denied using Simplii because eBay could not recognize it and I had to switch banks.

Same situation for me.
18 years as an eBay customer and this is the “reward”.
The world is moving to crypto - ebay is asking for our blood type. This will turn into a massive mistake for the company.

There is no option to send as a photo. It doesn’t ask for a file to be sent.
My passport has not expired. That is not the issue. The issue is that the form is simply coded incorrectly.

This is a tech issue that is currently being worked through. I've made sure that your accounts were both added as being impacted. I don't have an estimated time of resolution on this, but I know that this is a large enough issue that it's getting a lot of attention so I'm hopeful that we'll see it corrected quickly so that you both can get verified and back to business.
