An excellent article, behind a paywall unfortunately but the paper is on newstands now, on Consumer Spending during the pandemic and possible future trends.

There is also another article on population growth and shrinkage in the same edition.

The Consumer Spending article confirms what we have been seeing that during the first months of the pandemic, online buying more than doubled, for about four percent to about ten percent of Canadian commerce.

It also speaks about the sectors that did not do well, which included garments and makeup.

And the other article predicts that the Chines population will drop 48% over the next few decades, while that of India will be increasing.

Western nations with our educated female population will continue to shrink making immigration all the more important.

Looks like Canada is on the right path with the policy of accepting 250,000 to 400,000 new immigrants every year.
