Postal news from California

Learned about it from the seller in CA:

About 120,000 letters from around Orange County burned in a fiery crash Tuesday morning involving two big-rigs on the 57 freeway. The fire closed northbound lanes for hours, and officials said all the mail – which included letters and large envelopes – was destroyed.

The mail came from the U.S. Postal Service processing center in Santa Ana and was headed around the country,

Postal Service spokesman Richard Maher said.

Anyone who mailed a non-local letter Monday from ZIP codes starting with 926, 927, 928, 906, 917 and 918 is affected.

It's a lot of letters of course, but probably on a small fraction of the mail actually handled that day by the postal plant.

And a lot of it would be utility bills and junk mail.

The chances are pretty small that anything intended for an eBay buyer would be involved.

Sure hope not. Of course, I ordered and paid for an item Friday morning coming from zip code 926. Sure hope it wasn't a really efficient ebay seller who ran out and shipped immediately, LOL!
