Re-listing items

It seems as if when i try to re-list items i have to list for a specific number of days and have lost the option to start the relist when i want.  Is this a new ebay policy or what am I missing

What you're describing sounds like you're trying to re-list them as auctions (possibly unintentionally).

On the listing page have you ensured that "Fixed Price" is specified as the selling format?

Fixed Price run for a month and automatically relist unless you manually end the listing.

Auctions I'm not too familiar with, but sometimes they automatically relist eight(?) times before going to your Unsold List for a couple of months.

Auctions default to seven days, but you can choose other runs (one , three, and ten days, I think) if you pay a premium for the listing.
