Voided shipping label

I purchased and immediately voided a shipping label purchased through Canada Post.

i then purchased another label at the post office and entered the new tracking number which was successfully delivered. That was 2 months and 4 calls to eBay ago , and still I have not received the refund.

EBay first told me to contact Canada Post who then told me No you have to contact eBay.

the next 2 reps told me the refund has been initiated. Then the 3rd one tells me that they have to contact Canada Post to confirm.

i am so disgusted by this treatment and at this point I may have to accept being cheated out of the money.

How sad that this may very well be the end of my 23 plus years with ebay.

If you were on the phone you were not talking to eBay.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

That being said, take the information about the voided label to your nearest Post OFFICE , not the outlet in backof Shoppers Drug Mart, where again you will be dealing with subcontractors.

Ask them to look into the matter.

Face to face is often the way to get things done.

BTW- the hour before pickup is the busiest time for post offices . Don't go there during that period or over the lunch hour when they are short staffed.

Just went through this. Took 8 calls to ebay to get it sorted out. In the end they refunded my voided Canada post label and made it sound like it was some big special deal that they gave a courtesy refund. No, you owe me money. Keep calling, and start asking for a case number. Then call again and refer to the case number when they don't actually refund you. Then call again with both case numbers

I posted on this subject recently. When you void a shipment you receive an instant message stating 3 days to process. There is no reference number. When you check the help page is actually 21 days. Unsure if that is consecutive or business days. Betting the latter.

  • Canada Post: You have 14 days to void a Canada Post shipping label that you printed on eBay. It can take up to 21 days for Canada Post to approve or reject the refund. If it's approved, you'll receive an email that you have been refunded.

Someone else recently reported that in their situation it just was credited on their payment page. No sign of an email.

Originally when I checked on my voided label in CP it showed the correct one processed and later the delivered. The 2nd one shows as not existing. In eBay they are both described as processed and later delivered. In checking now (10 days after the fact) the voided label now shows in CP as possible delay in delivery. Seems there is a bit of extreme mixed messaging going on between the 2 systems. As a side both labels were billed within a day of being generated. Stay tuned. Hopefully we will get some follow up from the Jan monthly Q & A on the subject on how it is supposed to work. Another dog and pony show?

PS. Seeing as these labels were created within eBay the refunds should be coming from eBay. Shippo they were processed through Shippo in 7 to 10 business days. If there were delays usually a brief message to Shippo and the charges were refunded almost immediately.

In speaking to both facebook and "regular" cs they stick with the up to 21 days mantra. The refund is fed directly through CP to eBay and you are supposed to get a note that you have been refund. No guarantees. If you haven't at the 21 day mark point you can attempt to push for follow up. In those cases best would be to contact via either facebook/twitter. Definitely more of a process with eBay labels.

PS. As a side direct through CP "might" work but even showing a clerk the label that wasn't used could speed up the process. But not likely. They need proof that the voided label was not used. It still could be potentially reprinted. When I spoke to Facebook help suggested more reasons be added to dropdown for voiding. The current choices are extremely limited/narrow. Also there should be a reference number attached to the voided/claim requests like you would receive if filed directly with CP.

My voided shipment is just over the 21 day mark. In speaking to Facebook they've said it should be 21 days but can be more. They have passed on to tech services to see if a refund could be forced. That would be another 24 hrs +-. Note: Shipment was delivered 19 days ago. Confirmed by buyer.

Follow up.

Void was processed at the 22 day mark. Appears it was forced after 1 CS chat and 3 interactions with eBay Facebook staff. According to eBay this is acceptable. Message I automatically received when I created the void stated 3 days but that is misinformation according to eBay help on the subject. 21 days or longer seems excessive especially if the postage was a high amount when a customer cancels the order after you efficiently package.

-Lotz

Agreed. There should be a reference number whenever you generate a void. There is if it is done within CP.
