updating tracking for "where my item"

So got a "where my item"  claim,  checked tracking, shows still in transit. 

went to reconfirm tracking number for item and  to reply to buyer 

filled in add/update tracking  form , did "Add the tracking number LMxxxxxxCA and now get   Invalid tracking information

ebay  the sale details show the tracking and where item was last but now you tell me "invalid",  so which is it ??

any ideas??

Send the tracking number to the customer via eBay Messages.

Make sure the tracking number is recorded by Paypal.

And try eBay again later, after the gnomes that run the thinking machines have finished their cigarette break.
