Bidding problems

 Hi!

Please help me to understand what have happened.

I remember bidding 1$ for smth (3 days ago). Now I've received a notice that I've won, but the  price appears to be 6.75$

I don't understand how that had happened, since I have not set any other amounts rather  than 1$. The usual price is about 2$, so I would never pay almost 7$ for something I can buy for 2$.

When you look on the bidding history, my nickname appears is in gray color and there is a note saying:

"Gray text indicates an automatic bid (proxy bid) placed by eBay on behalf of the bidder."

But once again I didn't put a max bidding price except for  that 1$ at the beginning.

I would like to understand what have  happened for the future purchases.

Thanks

Probably what happened is when you made your

$1.00 bid you used a comma instead of a period.

$1,00

$1.00

When you do that your max bid would have been $100.00

Lucky no one bid $75.00.

Always check your bids.
