Final fees on shipping charge

Why is ebay charging me final fees on what the shipping cost. My shipping cost are within 1.00 of actual shipping charge. With ebay fees on shipping come right out of my pocket. Paypal which is owned by ebay does the same thing. Keeping this policy is going to push me to use kijiji.ca more often then ebay.

The fact that you've been a seller for as long as you have and are only noticing this now is very alarming.

Ebay owns Kijiji....you go stick it to em!!

Only recently got back into selling. Ebay owns kijiji, .... didn't know that, so far no fees though...

eBay may own Kijiji but it's still free to list there.

Why is ebay charging me final fees on what the shipping cost.

More than two years ago eBay responded to the scam sellers who were selling $1 items with $99 shipping.

Not only did this infuriate buyers (who don't read, as we all know), but it cheated eBay out of the FVF on selling price.

So they started charging FVF on the total the buyer paid.

A couple of notes.

The FVF percentage was lowered at the same time.

If the seller offers 'Free' shipping on her first domestic rate, there will be no FVF charged on any shipping even if the International charge is $200 for SuperDuperExpressSignature ConfirmedCourier to Minsk.

Buyers love 'Free' Shipping.

Which is cheapest?

A $5 item with $10 shipping?

A $10 item with $5 shipping"

A $15 dollar item with Free Shipping?

Which is most likely to attract comment about price gouging?

Which will have the lowest FVF?

Full disclosure- I don't always use Free Shipping myself.
