Hey there,

So I purchased an item that was a pre-order, but it shipped after 90 days, so the seller had to ask ebay to issue a new reference number so he could send it to KY. Because it was sent after the 90 day period, I don't have a global tracking number, only a reference number that goes OREUSAxxxxxxxxxxCA and was added to the shipping label so they can forward it to Canada.

The seller used UPS to send it to Erlanger, however the tracking info said it was delivered in Hebron, KY which I thought was kind of weird. I reached out to ebay and asked if this was a mistake, but they told me it's okay and it should be moved to the GSP hub for processing. As far as I know, there have been no updates on the status of my order after 2 weeks. The seller has been reaching out to ebay constantly and he says it's still showing up as not processed.

My question is if there is way to track my order with the reference number? If not, since it's been two weeks with no updates, do I have to assume the item has either been lost or it will show up at my door at any moment?

Back to your original question, the webpage that @femmefan1946 posted gives you a choice between entering a tracking number and entering an order number, which I would presume to be the same as a reference number. Here it is again:

Do you know how to use Google Maps?

Hebron KY is a 13 minute drive from Erlanger KY and both are near the Cincinnati Airport.

What was the last estimated date for delivery of your Thing?

If that date has not passed, stop watching tracking. It will just upset you.

GSP (and USPS and Canada Post and every airline and UPS plus thousands of others) use spoke and hub delivery systems, which is incredibly counter-intuitive but works.

If that date has passed, open an Item Not Received dispute with eBay and state that shipping was through the GSP and the dispute should be forwarded to a GSP specialist.

You will be refunded.

Your seller will not be charged.

When the (probably delayed not lost) package is delivered, GSP does not want it back.

Another poster worked this out for buyers who have not yet received their GSP shipment.
TRACKING SYSTEM FOR GSP
It's not user friendly... But I found how to track your package via the global shipping program, once it gets to Canada you need to:
- Log on to eBay.ca
- Under the My eBay menu select Purchase History
- Under your orders find the specific order. It should have something like the following:
Estimated delivery Mon, Jan 11 - Thu, Jan 21
Tracking number: Tracking number UPAAB000000#########
- Click on the UPA number. This should open up a Shipment Details window, which should contain something like this:
This shipment has been transferred to CPC for delivery to the final destination # 70351#########
You will be shown limited tracking info. In my case, only up to the point the package left the USA and entered Canada.

Step 4: Click on the "Track on carrier's website" link at the top right.

Step 5: You will be provided with tracking on the page of the actual shipping company, in my case Canada Post, with a tracking number in THEIR system.
-Click on the Canada Post number to see where the Canada Post Tracking history and expected delivery

Problem solved! If only eBay would put a link to https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/ in their shipping emails, this could all be avoided...

I should probably add more context. What I'm saying is that there's no tracking number that starts with UPAAB at al. I know I should have gotten one since I've bought things using the GPS system before. This is what happened in the words of the seller:

"I sold this sold thru the global shipping program, however when I went to ship I no longer see the reference number to write on the box so that it gets forwarded on to you from their global distribution center in Kentucky, they never even sent me your personal address, all I have is the address for the distribution center. From what customer service told me it’s because it’s been over 90 days since the purchase and eBay doesn’t keep those records visible past that".

However he was able to sort things out and get a reference number and my address:

"Hello yes, and I called to confirm and they’re sending me an updated tracking for you once it gets processed thru their facility. When I receive that notification I’ll send it to you since on their side they don’t have the information on the original transaction

1Zxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (UPS tracking number to the GSP hub)

Ref OREUSAxxxxxxxxxxCA".

When I go to my purchase history there's literally no information other than the order number and item number from my past purchase. If I go to the details it just says "Paid" and there's no tracking information at all, because the seller said it was after 90 days and I'm supposed to get a new tracking number once it's proccessed at the GSP hub. However it's been 2 weeks since it arrived to KY and the seller has told me it's not showing up as processed. So I'm asking if there's a way to track my order with a reference number or if I should assume it's been lost or stuck by this point.

Go for "assume it's lost" .

If it isn't the Claim will give you the tracking information you need.

But.

Don't close the claim just because you have the tracking information, because a closed claim cannot be reopened, nor can a new claim be started if one has been closed.

Note that in addition to eBay's Money Back Guarantee, you are also covered by Paypal's Buyer Protection (if you used PP as your payment processor) for 180 days from Payment*.

You are also covered by the chargeback policy of your credit card if you used one directly or through PP.

If you used a debit card or gift card you are blued and tattooed.

*Payment. Which was already a few months ago. Mark your calendar with the PP deadline for Claims.

I did open up a claim yesterday and they told me that with this case it will become priority for them and they will also be able to track where the item is.

They told me to cooperate with the seller in the mean time, who by the way has been very responsive from the start. They didn't give me a timeline though on when they will have any updates. Should I ask them directly or ask the seller to ask them for any updates or will ebay themselves reach out?

Thanks. I tried entering an old tracking number and the "order number" is indeed the reference number

As far as my order goes, I guess I got my answer. Nothing's showing up when I enter the reference number, so it's probably lost.

Open the ItemNot Received claim.

State that it was shipped via GSP.

Get your refund.

It isn't that unusual for an item to arrive at the gsp Center and then not show any movement until a day or two before it is delivered so there is still hope. However, I've never heard of the gsp issuing a new reference number so this is an unusual situation.

Sellers are not supposed to list preorders unless they can be shipped within 30 days after the purchase. The eBay money back guarantee is valid from 30 days after the estimated delivery date on the order. What was the estimated delivery date shown when you made the purchase? eBay may not consider you as covered with the mbg if the claim was opened after that. They do allow a claim to be opened but won't necessarily help further than that. I hope that isn't the case in your situation but if the item is lost, you may have to open a claim with your payment provider.
