Does eBay update tracking to say package is lost?

An Inceniroar amiibo I purchased was slow in getting to my house. I figured the virus is impacting the delays but eBay issued a refund to me and said the package was lost. Tracking does not indicate so. Should I give it some time or take the word that the package was lost?

Sometimes I wonder who writes and who approves the eBay messages.

Clumsy use of language that makes the customer (buyer or seller) more upset rather than less.

You bought a Thing.

The Thing did not arrive before the delivery deadline eBay gave you.

(Yes, probably the CONVID delays.)

You opened a Dispute.

The seller was unable to prove delivery (not shipping, delivery).

The seller (or eBay or the GSP) refunded your payment.

The transaction is now ended.

If the Thing is eventually delivered, you can contact the seller and arrange to Send Money to return the refund using Paypal.

Unless the seller used the Global Shipping Program which doesn't want to see it again and you have an early birthday present.

Tracking doesn’t ever say that a package is lost....it just doesn’t update.  And eBay generally doesn’t give a refund unless the buyer claims they did not receive their item.  Did you open an item not received claim?

Yes I opened up an item not received

why doesn’t tracking state item unknown?

For an item to show up in tracking as "lost" it would have to be scanned first.  Kinda hard to do that.  😁
