Because of Covid-19 delays are really erratic,

I have a package that was delivered more than 7 days ago at the GSP Warehouse and still nothing...

Is this normal?

Yes. I had one at Erlanger for 10 days. Just have to wait and be patient.

One of my packages sat in Erlanger for 10 days, apparently cleared customs somewhere in Canada 2 days ago and Canada Post has not received the item. Item is supposed to be here in 3 days and if not I will file a report never received the item and let GSP sort it out. It will be the last GSP I will purchase. I have also purchased my first and last EasyShip item. Seller was unaware of the high shipping cost.

There was a "propaganda" YouTube video posted here last week or so that indicated that the customs clearance is actually done in Erlanger as a sub-contract to CBSA.

Which is a fairly normal business practice.

The week long stay in Erlanger seems to be the new normal. That same video also indicated that the plant is closed on Sundays (and maybe on holidays) so take that into consideration along with very heavy shipping levels, sick leaves, and those taking time for family care.

EBay does give us a window for delivery and if that window closes, the GSP has in the past been pretty good about refunding late/lost shipments. And they don't want the late shipments back again. I guess it's cheaper to write those losses off than to have them returned, store them, find a buyer (because they don't belong to the seller anymore)or dispose of them.

Don't forget when you open the Item Not Received Dispute in the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page to ask that the Dispute be handled by a GSP Specialist.

I do think that it is only polite to let the seller know of the problems. Many don't understand how international shipping works, and some are shocked to find they are shipping internationally. It's not her fault since eBay only publicizes the GSP as a Seller Protection program. It certainly does almost nothing for the buyer.

Thanks a lot for providing these details, yes you are right, lots of sellers have no clue they are shipping international because GSP is in USA. That would be annoying if my package is lost because it’s a computer.

I totally agree. The fault is certainly not the seller's they shipped it off to GSP the following day. It is the GSP fault. They have created a choke point now not being able to handle shipments in a timely manner.

With my GSP item it shows on Aug 3rd

  • Shipped from the Global Shipping Center to International Destination
  • Erlanger, Kentucky 41025-2501

Then on Aug 5th

"Customs Cleared"  but no location where Point of Entry is.

This is why I thought the Aug 5th event occurred in Canada yet on Aug 8th the CP tracking number shows no receipt of the package. Are you saying that Aug 5th simply occurred in Erlanger?

The delivery date for this item is Aug 10th and I will be promptly filing an Item Not Received complaint come Monday night.

P.S. it appears EasyShip is as fubared as GSP.

eBay is saying that CP has the package yet CP shows no receipt of the package. As others have mentioned eBay tells me

"It looks like the item is on its way and should arrive by Aug 10, 2020. If you don't receive it by then, please contact the seller or come back to us so we can help you."

There is no way I will bug the seller other than informing them of the issue so they are aware of it. GSP is the one that has to fix this issue.

Talk about a screwed up system that has been screwed up from day one.

In the future I will avoid buying any GSP or EasyShip items.

I will deal with shipping involving normal carriers whose tracking systems are at least functional and whose shipping costs are less than what we are paying GSP. If I have to pay taxes or duty on an item I much prefer to pay Canada Post the $9.95 charge plus duty/taxes  rather than have packages fall into the black hole at Erlanger.

Why all the hate for the GSP? Most packages that are shipped through the GSP never make it before the last estimated date, but they do arrive eventually. File the INR claim on the very first day you can, get your refund, then wait a little longer and receive your free item. Ebay has no-one to blame but themselves as they were the ones who set up the ridiculous GSP program in the first place. Have a little patience and you can turn any GSP shipment to your advantage.

When did the seller ship and when did it arrive in Erlanger? I'm not seeing 10 days in KY from what you have said.

August 3 - Monday -in Erlanger

August 5- Wednesday -clears customs - probably cleared  in Erlanger but may be on the move again.

August 8 -Saturday - if there is a Canada Post number,  the package in in Canada Post's hands

August 10 - Monday - eBay's estimated last date for delivery?

Frankly a week for delivery from anywhere in North America would be amazingly fast in normal times.

Given what current shipping is like, with higher than average traffic, fewer workers, fewer trucks and planes for delivery,  a week for delivery would be a miracle.

EBay gives a window for delivery. Is August 10 the first or the last date you were given?

Again, buyer's should not look at tracking. It's too confusing and stressful.

The only important dates are that window for delivery.

Eyeballing the warehouse in that GSP video, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pitney Bowes or the GSP contractee has had to rent additional warehouse space to accommodate the flood of packages it now has to handle. At least it seems to be on a “first in, first out” basis whereas reports suggest that USPS international sort centres are in chaos.

My wife recently received two small items sent as letters with no customs form from the US and those took about a month to reach her. She had no idea where they were during that time but wasn’t bothered by that. I think there are better things most of us can do with our time than check to see whether our items were last scanned in Erlanger, Mississauga or re-routed to Iqaluit. Knowing this information doesn’t make any difference to whether the item reaches the recipient in the condition stated in the listing, in the timeframe stated in the listing.

@reallynicestamps

Seller shipped item July 23rd.

Erlanger received item July 25th.

Erlanger then supposedly shipped item to international destination August 3rd.

August 5th eBay tracking says item cleared customs August 5th but gives no location in Canada where the supposed customs point is. If the item indeed was shipped out of Erlanger then clearing customs should have occurred in Canada at a port of entry.

Canada Post tracking # eBay gave me shows no activity or receipt of the parcel that supposedly cleared customs 4 days ago and is supposed to be here tomorrow.

August 4th was first date and August 10th is last date.

July 23 - Aug 10 is 18 days which may be a little bit longer than some US/Canada parcels have taken in the past but considering that most deliveries are slower these days, I don't think that it is unreasonable.  Frankly I'm surprised that ebay gives a first eta of Aug 4 as that really is an unrealistic arrival time imo.   It is definitely within your right to open an item not received claim after the 10th but if it were me, I would likely wait until at least a week after that.
