How long does Canada customs take?

Hi, I bought a package from a China seller roughly 2 months ago, the package was shipping through Yanwen and has not yet arrived. The tracking number says that it reached the Canada Airport 45 Days ago. Do customs usually take this long?

For items from China, it's becoming the norm, unfortunately.  Check some of the other threads on this board for the reasons.

Toxic drug screening has pushed the custom clearance times really high for items from China in the last year or so.

You have 30 days after last estimated delivery date to open an Item-Not-Received (INR) case on eBay.

If that's expired, then 180 days from date of purchase for PayPal INR protection.

If it shows up after an INR refund, you can always repay the seller through paypal.

The Paypal Resolution Centre is hidden under Tools at the top of your PP account page.

When the item is finally received, if it is satisfactory, you can return the refund using PP's Send Money service.

How long does Canada customs take?

I recently spoke with a person "live" from the CBSA, and the current delay time for small packages is 6 weeks or so.

The problem is that small volume parcels get the other end of the 'news' cycle, in place of the number of people who ingest fake 'party drugs' and expect the impact will not affect them , or is safe, or other [**bleeped word?**].

So, the inspectors' main job is to keep us Canadians safe.

There are several methods to keep us safe , and one of them is to inspect 100% of the small parcels that arrive from CHINA.

The problem for the customs people, is that every small parcel has to get x-rayed , then by hand inspected, and then put into a sack for delivery by Canada Post, for which none of them get any money from CHINA.

So, you say it is too long.

TOUGH

Until you refuse to BUY from sellers who are not willing to EXPEDITE their parcel to CANADA, (and pay the fee), the CBSA has a lower priority on your bumble-bee garden solar lights from CHINA, than on SAVING your children, or neighbor's children (and adults)  from the fake tablets and other products that could harm us.

Ask, how much extra would be the shipping if it went by FEDEX or DHL.

IF you confirm that you would have bought, but didn't because of CHINA not wanting to play fair and ensure that parcels do not LEAVE China with Fenanyl in it, then it would take a lot less time, since the containers of mail would be BONDED by the CHINA gov't , and then the BOND  would be forfeited if there were violations of CANADA's import rules.

So, you see, the choice is up to you.

Ask for cheap or "Free" shipping, and buy from CHINA, or get the same products, pre imported to the USA, then exported back out and pay $10.00 per item or more for shipping from the USA via US Postal Service (USPS).

Feel that $10.00 is too much for the USPS to ship to CANADA?

Then buy at local Big Box Blue store with a "splat or asterisk" as part of its logo.

Not available from local retailer?

Ask them to import item, and see how much they would have to pay to handle this particular item.

There has got to be a better way, and only you can make the change happen.
