Why does Ebay Shipping have multiple tracking numbers?

So I ordered an item from the US and they sent it Global Shipping. I've noticed that the one item has three different tracking numbers. Two of them say a label was created and awaiting package to be picked up and the third shows it reaching the Global Sorting Center then says Cleared Customs. But I have no idea who is delivering it here in Canada nor if it reached Canada. Ebay sent me an email yesterday saying

"We are writing to inform you that your recent transaction through the Global Shipping Program has cleared customs and is now out for delivery with the carrier"

Yet nothing was delivered and I have no idea who the carrier is.

The Global Shipping Program is a glorified forwarding service.

Items destined for Canada are shipped to the Global Shipping Center in Kentucky by the sellers’ choice of carrier. After Kentucky, they’re usually shipped up to Mississauga with a mail freight forwarder such as Canpar, go through customs, and then handed off to Canada Post and/or another carrier. This carrier may get it to your door or hand it off to yet another carrier before reaching you.

You can sometimes get a link to the tracking site for the last carrier on file through a PitneyBowes tracking site. The link to that info is just below the “progress meter”:

https://tracking.pb.com
https://parceltracking.pb.com

Having said all that, while all this tracking information is kind of interesting, I’ve come to the conclusion that knowing where my items were last scanned doesn’t much or any difference to whether or not my item arrives.
