I know all of you have been struggling with the new shipping processes and many of you have it down pat now. I never use online shipping as it just isn't needed too often. I'm old and it just boggles my mind. I don't know why ebay has to change things, I hate change.
I normally to Canada ship my CD's oversize letter mail and to the US I use USPS. For international, I use light packet with Canada Post which cost 10.10. I see that some of you are able to get small packet International cheaper than that.
Can anyone let me know what you have learned for international, which service to use and approx the cost. Weight is about 140 grams and really is light packet but if I can send it small packet for cheaper, great.
It would be greatly appreciated if you can point me in the right direction.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Using your example:
Small Packet (air) (up to 250g, to the Nederlands)
Over the counter: $10.27
eBay through PayPal: $10.27 (being phased out)
PayPal direct: $10.11
Canada Post EST: $10.11
Canada Post Snap Ship (until July 31): $9.10 (then $10.11)
eBay through Shippo: I have no data for this price range
Based on Solutions for Small Business tier 1 discounts.

Old enough to know what speed dial is....

I wanted to know what it is for shipo or ship shape or whatever the new choices are. The Canada post one I am familiar with.
Thanks

Snap Ship is Canada Post (it's a new alternative to EST).
Until the end of July it has an extra 15% off your regular Solutions for Small Business rate.
eBay rate through Shippo should be slightly better, as eBay has up to 25% off small packet until 2017.

ypdc, Exactly what I wanted thanks.
There is no cost benefit to me shipping it small packet as opposed to light packet at $10.10. The PO is very handy for me so it is not a bother to get to one to use light packet.
Thanks again,

Just a question when I went through snap ship I didn't get 9.10 amount. How did you arrive at that amount?

The special discount should show on page 3 as a separate line before you pay.

I think we all owe ypdc_dennis a debt of gratitude for taking the time and showing the patience to walk so many users through this cost-and-service comparison process. Thank you!

Once again another question. Do I go through ebay for that or do I go to the CP website?

Snap Ship requires you to use the Canada Post website.
Shippo eBay rates are through the buy shipping label link on ebay.ca (assuming you've already been switched by eBay to Shippo from PayPal for eBay labels). You should have an email/message if that has happened.

Hi ypdc, I would like to thank your for your help. Worked like a charm. Actual cost was $8.59 sending it small packet through Canada Post Snap Ship , so I saved $1.51 as opposed to using light packet at the PO. I have 3 to mail off this weekend so I will be saving $4.50.
Thanks again,

Hi ypdc, another stupid question. My buyers address in Hong Kong is really long and doesn't fit in, what do I do?

My mistake -- I only knocked off 10% rather than 15% when I was posting.

If I remember correctly, address space is one of the Snap Ship flaws compared to EST.
First I'd see if there is anyway to shorten it.
If not, I'd add the complete address to the packet manually.

Just an fyi....I printed a small packet international label to Italy today and the cost was $8.39. The regular small packet cost for a 100 gram package would have been $10.27 so the discount worked out to 18.3%. I was hoping that "up to 25%" really meant 25%. I'm curious if we will find any discounts that are that high.
