Expedited Parcels - GSP

Hello, I'm wondering where my package is after it departed the eBay US Shipping Center and apparently then got handed off to Canada Post for delivery to my house. The tracking code leads me to this:

2013/08/2716:56CALGARY

Electronic information submitted by shipper.

If you can see, the information is dated on August 27th but on eBay tracking information shows that the package left US Shipping Center yesterday night on August 28th. Does this mean the package is in Calgary because Canada post shows that was where information was submitted? Just want to know where this package is or how long it will take to get to me. BTW, I live 3 hours from Calgary so if it was there I should have probably gotten it by now. Please help, thank you.

What are you going to call them about? You said that your parcel left the U.S. shipping center in Kentucky on Wednesday night so it has been just 2 business days and it normally does take longer than that. The statement that you see about Calgary doesn't mean that your package was in Calgary but it could mean that is where they have a clearing center for packages. At this point, it just means that a shipping label was made and submitted electronically. I don't know how they were shipping the item from Kentucky to the border but if it was USPS, try the tracking number on USPS.com. It's common for a U.S. tracking number not to show up on CP until it has crossed the border.

If you still can't find the information, that could mean it hasn't been scanned...that does happen and it does not mean that the parcel is lost. I doubt that it is going to move anywhere over the long weekend so try to forget about it till after the weekend..I'm sure that there is nothing to worry about.

2 days from the US?  You must be kidding.

2 weeks would be more reasonable.

It looks like your item is in Customs, btw.

Again? I thought it already went through customs at the US Shipping Center in Erlanger.. plus 2 weeks? O.O I mean even if they go by ground it should take like 3 days from Erlanger to Calgary or wherever.

If it was sent via the GSP it will take a little longer.

To the best of my knowledge the seller ships to the P-B relay station in the States, and the item clears customs there.

Then they ship to their Canadian office, and from there they  ship to buyers via Expedited but the buyer never gets the tracking information.

You're right though.  Since taxes have been prepaid there's no reason to clear customs twice.

Packages shipped via the GSP can't be traced as far as I know, and take a little longer because they're shipped twice.

I was hoping I can track it because then I could possibly just pick it up from my local post office instead of them delivering it. Tough luck..hopefully eBay can make GSP better since we pay import charges and stuff when customs usually doesn't make us.

Still no tracking information has been updated. I have contacted eBay and they say the item is actually lost in transit. Is it really or will it arrive? I have no idea what to do though in the end I will open a refund case.

"they say the item is actually lost in transit"

That is absolute nonsense by a customer service representative who badly needs training or retraining.

An item shipped on Wednesday is not "lost in transit" by Saturday. The problem is most likely with the information flow, not the parcel.

Considering this is a long Holiday weekend, nothing will happen until next week in any case.

Patience.  Wait until Wednesday at least before following up.

I called once and asked where the package was and they said it was lost so file a claim so I called again to just verify if it was actually lost but it isn't
They gave the same response as you. Thanks for your information though. It will help me for further buying through GSP.

As soon as it leaves Kentucky they advise Canada Post who creates a new tracking number (plus an order number and 2 reference numbers)  and you get a notification as well.

Then there is a wait as it travels from KY to the appropriate CDN destination.  C Post does not update anything until they actually receive it. Then it makes it's way to wherever in Canada.

They generate a lot of numbers but not a lot of speed.
