Lasts a month, and looks like it's a "permanent" feature like the 500 free fixed price I get with my store subscription.

This is all  a part of the Spring Update.

This is 100 free auctions for collectables each and every month... for all store owners... all  store levels.

We will have to look at the collectable categories .. very carefully.

This is not a promo... a one time offer.... It is every month

The emphasis is on collectables... by choice eBay is saying auctions  should be used in select categories...

where auctions can  be used..to achieve a best final price...

This could be a sign of things to come....auctions only in select categories.

There are sellers who know how to use auctions effectively.... and then there are sellers who use auctions  in many a wrong situation....

What is a collectable?

That is the question.

There is a collectables category....Is that the only place these free auctions can be used...

and  where else???  if at all......

That third (generic) classification in the list, "Collectibles" covers a lot of ground -- and is subject to broad personal interpretation.  I wonder how (or if) eBay is going to be monitoring what gets listed in that category?

When this announcement originally came out, my first thought was that the only collectibles that are worth offering at auction anymore are the ones that are fairly rare, sought after and valuable.  Yet those are the very items that sell well at Fixed Price if the seller knows their business.  Oh well, we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, even from eBay.

It's unclear what are "collectibles"?. Ebay means the whole "collectibles and art" category or just "collectibles and art/collectibles"?

Hi Pierre

Am I correct in assuming the 150 fixed price have to be used up before the auction listings can be used?

Where the information comes from? The link you provided leads to information about fees only. No categories explained there.

I suppose you copied the info from somewhere on Ebay website - would you please provide the link? Thank you!

"Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop"

I just tried and it doesn't give me 20 free listings in "Collectables" I was being charged the 0.30 insertion fees, so I cancelled.

I will be listing a lot less. And I'm sure that others will do the same. (Those of us who haven't a store)

No.  Use them as you see fit.

See my question above. I believe you have to use your fixed price first. Have you done that?

"Where the information comes from? The link you provided leads to information about fees only. No categories explained there."

As stated earlier, there is a link on that fee page explaining what categories are eligible.

"Insertion fees are free for the first set number of listings per month, depending on your Store subscription (exclusions apply)."

I tried several times as a batch relist and a batch sell similar. And it kept giving me the full fees. I tried relisting individual items. And was not charged.

Very disappointing that I cannot use Books, DVD, etc at auction-style format not even with my 500 free monthly listings.  It changed to fixed-priced format only.  I use to list my items either fixed-priced or auction-style every month and now I cannot do that for auction-style in those categories.

I guess eBay wants more $$$$$, forcing us to pay the insertion fees for other categories.  Nice guy eBay when they are already earn  Billion of $$$ and yet they want more?!!!!!!!!!!
