Welcome to DRK RADIO

In 1999 I with others set up pirate radio station called DRK RADIO.

It was great fun and lasted for about one year.

There was some great djs playing blues to rock pop and a bit of everything.

The djs names were in code so the powers that be did not know who we were.

There was the silver fox

The hairy man

Dj hacker

Billy the kid

Togge

Chris Carroll

And many more.

What I would like to do now is start it again on this board.

You be the dj and find the music video you want to play on YouTube and post a link on here.

You can also post a video of you talking about the song you picked if you like.

And the next posted do the same.

I will get the ball rolling

This was the very first song played at live aid.

Not a great song, but we have to start with something.

Can you do better, please join in.

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

They didn’t show a photo of the whole motorcycle!

The Corrs, another Irish family that probably learned their music in the kitchen.

Great music for a donnybrook. All I need is my blackthorn hanging by the front door.

The certainly have altered those Gregorian Chants. I still like the original.

Ewa Farna, she’s cute but I just don’t see anything special. Maybe it’s the language that is throwing me off.

Lindsey Stirling, she does have potential! Reminds me of a female version of Ashley MacIsaac.

He’s been around a long time and gone through his own devils that hurt his career, then he ‘came out’ and he got a lot of criticism ………but I think he is making a comeback.

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

British magazine NME (New Music Express) which started in 1952 has named John Lennon rock music’s biggest star ever.

I agree.

In memory…………..

Did not know until today that American Women was penned by a Canadian band. All this while I thought it was written and sung by Lenny Kravitz. Oh well.

Need help getting stuff from USA ? Check out the service providers listing on eBay USA: http://bit.ly/R9uBEV

I really enjoyed listening to this - hadn't remembered it though I watched the movie some time ago. Glad to have found this song/soundtrack again.

Thanks for posting 🙂

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

A lot of modern music leaves me cold.

However, this band is one that I really like.  They are very folky and remind me of some other musicians.  Yet, I find their style quite unique.  I love the banjo as a back up instrument and they use it well.

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

You must have used a backhoe and a stick of dynamite to find this thread. But that's a good thing.

Mumford and Sons….hadn’t heard of them. Looked them up…..their British! Good group.

You’re ‘mellow’ day was a good day. Maybe I’m just getting older but the music today………just doesn’t have it…..not like the list you provided.

A few weeks ago a kid said to me “you have to listen to this protest song”. I did…..about 3 times. I couldn’t understand the frikken words!!!! It was like listening to an 8 vehicle freeway crash and one person was singing in a trunk! I mean if you’re going to have a protest song….can we hear the words! Or maybe they were protesting against silence.

And ‘rap’…..can’t handle it….ain’t happening.
