Canada Only Items

Is there a way to filter my search options to locate items that are only available to Canadian sellers on ebay.ca?

Example: buyer ships to Canada only!

Cheers:-)

Is there a setting for Canadian currency only?

That would block out most Canadians selling into the international market.

Nice to see you back bilge21. It seems many of the posters here don't realize that there are products that will have no international interest.

Your recycled printer cartridges are one. My Canadian postage lots are another.

bilge21 post was from Dec 2012 in this old topic.

I'm still here though, 5 years later. Lol

He still says in the item descriptions 3 years later that he does not ship outside of Canada but he still has not excluded USA. So his confusion still continues.

bilge21 does have a shipping cost to the USA but it is $45 which is so high to discourage USA buyers but be visible to Canadian buyers logging onto eBay.com USA. Apparently many Canadian buyers log onto eBay.com USA and do not log on to eBay.ca Canada site. Otherwise, having no USA shipping option would not allow his listings to be visible on eBay.com for Canadian buyers.

But this is speculation on my part.

A year and a half late, but that is exactly the reason, poco. I DO get a US buyer now and then but they have their toners shipped to a Canadian address where they can hop across the border to pick them up.

Re: Canada Only Items

Hey, I was looking to ship to only Canadians as well just because I don't know how this customs stuff works and I don't want to deal with tax though I also live in London Ontario.

Re: Canada Only Items

Funny you say that. I used to work at a custom broker in Canada.

Importer is responsible for their own custom (If you ship in USA and there is something wrong, the us importer get the **bleep** from there custom officers, not you unless it has drugs in the shipment then yes, you might get a knocking at your door from the RCMP).

Make sure you that you put a good description and the purchase value of the item.

Description = "Good item name - Gift" Value for custom: The value the buyer paid for it.

If custom does not believe the importer, they will ask to see the invoice.

Make sure you put the invoice inside the package and the trick is done.

As for the tariff code use this site

https://hts.usitc.gov/

Use the 6 universal custom digit Search and find you good and write the number that shows up on the left pane.

Hope this help.

Louis

Re: Canada Only Items

I don't know how this customs stuff

As a seller it is pretty straightforward.

When you print a shipping label for a non-Canadian customer, the label will automatically include most of the information you will need.

One newer twist is the 'HS Code" for exports.

Here is the place to get those numbers.

https://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/wtz/business/findHsCode?execution=e1s1

While we're with Canada Post here are the counter rates.

https://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/business/findARate?execution=e2s1

EBAy is dropping Paypal shipping labels

At the moment the best deals seem to be SnapShip(which is Canada Post) but the labels do not self-populate.

https://www.canadapost.ca/web/en/pages/snapship/default.page

The new boys in town are Shippo! who are having some birthpangs

https://goshippo.com/

Don't panic.

Shipping is the hardest part of selling by mail order. And eBay is mail order in a new dress.

There are lots of discussions much more up to date than this one about current shipping standards.

Start your own thread whenever you need advice.

We posters have lots of experience and no lives.

TL/ DR

Americans can import $800 US (~$105Cdn) without having to pay any duty.

It's the customer's problem, not yours.
