No update in two weeks

Hello everyone,

I won a bid on June 1st and paid immediately. The next day, I received an e-mail from eBay telling me "Your parcel has been shipped to the Global Shipping Center". That's it. Nothing new since. The estimated delivery date was between June 12th and June 17th.

The seller is located in New Jersey and I'm in the south of the province of Quebec. This is a 7 hour road trip.

I looked on parceltracking.pb.com and also on tracking.pb.com but there is nothing more than "Tracking Details Uploaded".

There was also a USPS tracking code but it just doesn't work.

I contacted the seller last Tuesday (11th) but he did not answer any of my questions and just told me to be patient.

I know this pandemic causes massive troubles with the post offices everywhere but it's been almost two weeks now and I do not even know if my parcel left the seller's house.

Usually, I can be patient and understanding but I'm moving on the 1st of July. I can handle a maximum two weeks delay from the estimated delivery date but with no update, I can only think this delay could be much longer.

What should I do?

What can you do? be patient, be more patient and be the mostest patient...There are delays everywhere...USPS, Canada Post, GSP the... delays encompass the entire gambit of shipping processes...many of the sortation centers and distribution centers are experiencing difficulties...mail is having to be re-routed to other locations...

Hang in there and hope for the best!

I know patience is to be expected during this period but as I said, I am going to move on the 1st of July and I won't be able to receive my parcel then. I know delay could happen but I thought a two weeks delay margin from eBay's expected delivery date would be enough. Unfortunately, I think it won't...

If you are moving and are providing Canada Post and/or your local postal locations with the new address, perhaps your package will be forwarded to the new address?

Open a case on ebay for item not received after June 17 and before you move.

It seems suspicious that the USPS tracking number is not working. Have you checked on the usps.com website?

Canada Post will not forward parcels, just regular mail.

Yes, I entered the number multiples times, just to be sure, directly on the official USPS website and it says the number might be wrong or that the status update is not yet available.

What will happen if I open a case for an item not received? I don't want to put the seller in trouble since it may be eBay's fault with GSP tracking problems.

A not-received item is a not-received item, tracked or not.

We buyers have been brainwashed into thinking that tracking solves all sorts of ills. It doesn’t. If you found out your item had gone to Siberia or went up in flames in a tractor trailer, you’d still be in this boat. Right now, your item is not on track (See what I did there? 😜) to reach you by Wednesday, the last estimated delivery date.

Your seller presumably insured the item and can make a claim if it’s lost, or they’ve factored into their business plan some measure of loss. They should be able to take care of themselves. It’s not your job to look after them.

Given the tight time constraints you’re under due to your upcoming move, I’d let the seller know on Wednesday if your item hasn’t arrived by then, and depending on how the seller responds, file your not-received claim shortly afterwards. Assure your seller that if they’re out of pocket as the item appears not to have even reached Kentucky, that you’ll pay them again if you do receive it.

What mailing method did the seller use for getting the item to Kentucky, anyway?

You can ask the seller if they entered the correct USPS number.

Exactly.

Tracking is a SELLER PROTECTION.  It has no value to a buyer, and can lead to anguish as the shipment slowly makes it way to him, often by complicated routes.

And the current Plague is not making it any easier.

Since the USPS number is not working, contact the seller through eBay Messages, explain the problem and ask if he could confirm the tracking number he was given.

There could be a typo.

USPS takes GSP packages to Erlanger KY and delivers to the GSP plant.

There-- and only there-- does the seller's responsibility for delivery end.

GSP puts your shipment along with hundreds of others  into a truck and sends all of them together to Canada, usually to Canada Post in Mississauga. *

And Canada Post give it to you.

EBay has told you that delivery will be by June 17.

Until then, no problem, except that you are watching the tracking and it is upsetting you.

When USPS gets the package to Erlanger, eBay will give you a new number  starting with UPA xxxxxx and that can be tracked through
https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/

Which is the PitneyBowes/GSP tracking site.

But.

You can't open an Item Not Received dispute until June 17. That's Wednesday. Then you have 30 days to do so.

If you have to open the INR state that this was shipped via GSP and ask for a GSP specialist.

If GSP can't prove delivery (not shipping/re-shipping) you will be refunded.

If the purchase shows up after you are refunded, GSP doesn't want it back, nor does it want to deal with a returned refund.

Soooo---- Happy UnBirthday.?

*Which is also if not overwhelmed, certainly whelmed.

Thank you for your answers everyone. I'll contact the seller on Wednesday to explain the situation and see if an item not received dispute is going to be necessary.

I appreciate the advice you gave me.

Thanks again,

Have a nice day!
