A couple of days ago I logged into my PP acct. When inside, there was a notification open on the right side of the screen with this message:
Before you can complete any transactions, you need to verify that you're the account holder. Please visit the Identity Confirmation Dashboard to find out what information we need.
First, I checked the URL, it was not a scammer's link.
When I clicked on the link, this was next:
Please confirm your identity to avoid any service interruptions
In compliance with the regulatory requirements in Canada, we need to confirm your personal and business identity.
Next are some fields they want me to fill. They are:
middle name
Date of birth
occupation
phone number
home address
As far as I can tell, my account hasn't been restricted in any way. As soon as I saw it the first time, I withdrew most of the balance to my bank. That transaction went ok. I also received several payment from buyers, and paid for postage.
I am very hesitant to give out this information. Once I do, it is available to every hacker that gets into their site.
Has anyone else gotten this? What is this "regulatory requirements in Canada" they indicate?
