Canada's Tax Free Limit

Did Canada recently raise the amount we can import tax free from $20?

Depends on what you mean by "recently" (this happened about two years ago) and the answer is somewhat complicated.

The tax-free limit is still C$20 for items sent by mail, but it's $40 for items sent by courier if they originate from the US or Mexico.

The duty-free limit for items sent by courier from the US or Mexico is C$150, by the way.

But the duty -free allowance remains at $20 for the rest of the world?

As far as I can tell.  I guess our free trade deals with other nations/regions don't cover casual imports.
