Defects for uncompleted returns?

Had a few cases in the past, where buyer opens SNAD with return request.  I accept the return request but item never gets returned, and buyer never contacts me again.

Return request eventually times out.

Do these instances count as defects?  If so, is there anything sellers should be be doing to avoid defects?

Do you contact CS before case times out, or afterwards?

Thanks.

Re: Defects for uncompleted returns?

You should be able to tell if it counted as a defect by looking on your dashboard but under the current system, a defect is normally given as soon as a snad return request is opened.  Once the system changes in February, you will only get a defect for a snad claim if you refuse the return and the buyer escalates the claim. In that case you would get an unresolved claim defect.

If you have some sort of proof that the buyer only opened the return request to force you to give a partial refund, then cs 'might' take off the defect but I don't know how often that happens.
