Managed Payments - Is This Option Available?

Is it possible to have Canadian funds go to my Canadian Bank account and US funds go to Paypal?

Thanks!

Oh wait! The email heading says "eBay Canada" and I list on .com.   I guess I wait for an email from eBay .com?

I don't think you will get one from each site, just the one that you are registered on. I don't know why you are having problems but you could ask the MP specialist on the weekly chat. The board should be open sometime tomorrow until sometime on Wednesday.

Re: Managed Payments - Is This Option Available?

I'll check out the chat - thanks!  I tried again today and still no luck.

What's odd is that I just received another email today to register and again I tried and now the message is as per the attached.  I'm so confused 😞

FYI: Sorry, just noticed that this was posted for my other account.   My other account is GreenMangoes.

I'm a bit  confused too but assuming that you are posting with 2 different ID's, maybe they want you to sign up with the other ID but on this ID they are just letting you know that you will be asked to change later on?  Of course that doesn't explain why you can't sign up with the ID that was invited.   The weekly chat is open nowcuntil sometime tomorrow so it would be best to ask there.

You were correct PJ.   I was able to sign up with the other ID.

Re: Managed Payments - Is This Option Available?

So I finally registered, it wasn't too bad. I would still prefer to have the option to keep money in Paypal but hopefully that's something they can add later.

1) When signing up, they didn't give the option to choose which account to deposit the money in, they automatically choose the account. Is there a way to change the account I have another account that I would prefer to use but there is no option to "Change Bank Account" only an option to "Change Bank".

2) It also says the following:
You get a scheduled payout to your bank account based on the schedule you choose (once daily as funds are available, or weekly) so you don’t need to transfer funds between multiple accounts.

Where do I set the schedule?

Thanks!

Re: Managed Payments - Is This Option Available?

I too have a US located bank account for my eBay sales. I was just told this am it must be a Canadian bank but it could be either a US dollar account or a Canadian one. The reason I opted to get an account in the states in the first place was of how they were calculating their exchange rates.

All the options for viewing and making changes are in your payments tab in Sellers Hub. The current schedule is Daily or Tuesdays. We threw it past them recently about allowing sellers to choose a schedule that works best for them. Then it could be possible to have funds sitting to cover any expected fees instead of it being removed whatever the next source is. It's possible it is being considered. We will have to wait and see if something happens.

As for changing banks that is done from the same place. If you need to move funds after the fact you would have to do bank to bank.

My understanding is that right now eBay and/or Adyen (adminstrators of Managed Payments) are getting a sense of how much interest there is from Canadian sellers in having payments sent to US dollar accounts on Canadian soil.  Right now you have to attach a Canadian dollar bank account to a Managed Payments account.

The question about having funds going to a US bank account was asked multiple multiple times 3 years ago when all the discussions about MP began. It appears it was very low on the priority list if it still unresolved now.  The alternative, they just like the profitability of controlling US fund exchanges vs sellers doing it on their schedule.

Similar to the concern for sellers who sell coins, etc. When you consider it was affect over a million listings on dot com and 160,000 + on dot ca I guess they finally figured they better find a solution before sellers went elsewhere.

I see the option to change bank, the issue that I'm having is changing the bank account.  When I was signing up it automatically selected one for me but I wanted to use a different account.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if change bank includes change bank account?  I really don't want to tamper with it now that it is basically set. When I first signed up for MP there were several more options available that have now been poofed.  It may be an extra option that needs to be requested to tyler@ebay  with the weekly chat.

Re: Managed Payments - Is This Option Available?

To be clear, we can change to .ca and avoid losing Pay Pal?

It would be a hasstle, and honestly I cant even  remember how to  change from .com to .ca, but it might be worth it. Pay Pal has been much more convienant than just adding to my Bank account.

I like to see what I make per week versus figuring out the deposits in my bank account. So much easier moving money around. Either to friends, purchases, and withdrawl.Dont like this change at all.

Another greedy move by Ebay

I don't understand, what are you referring to when you say "they automatically chose the account"?  Until we tell them during the application process MP has no idea which bank we want our funds sent to let alone which account.

I signed up last Thursday. An ebay.ca listing sold soon after ... all was good with MP. That state of affairs quickly reversed after an ebay.com listing sold. The immediate effect of that sale was the appearance of a funds on hold, account update required banner. The previous day MP had failed to ask for ID verification which is apparently required for a Canadian to receive funds from items listed on ebay.com. MP activated my account with immediate effect even though they must have known the account included internationall listings. Be warned, if MP failed to verify your ID and you are listing on .com or elsewhere around the world MP will place funds on hold pending a successful ID verification. I'm still not sure whether the hold applies to all transactions, or just to those originatting from .com. I'll find out shortly.

Yes, the question has been asked by several people on the .ca community discussion boards since the transition to Managed Payments was announced.  However, we all know that there are a lot of eBay sellers based out of Canada who don't use these discussion boards.  A few weeks ago, somebody posted that when they registered for Managed Payments, they were asked if they were interested in having US dollar deposits and I'm taking that as an attempt by eBay and/or Adyen to get a sense of how much interest there is in this set-up.  If not enough Canadian sellers express interest in this option when registering, I have a feeling it's not gonna fly.

Just a random post pulled from 2019. See post 8. There are many similar questions asked prior to that. Especially on the several Q + A's that  were addressed very belatedly. So to say they are still checking to confirm if there is "interest" is extremely poor on being proactive.

1) When I was signing up it gives you a list of banks to choose from
2) I choose my bank

3) When I click on next, it only displayed ONE account - my chequing account  ( I have a chequing and a savings account).

I was hoping I could choose if I want the deposit in my chequing or savings.

Thanks

Hmm ... Were you asked to signin to your bank account? We cannot use a savings account with MP, if you were shown accounts I can understand why you were shown just the chequing account.  Quite a lot of people have reported being asked to signin to their bank.

When I signed up last week I selected my bank from the supplied list, I did not see an option to logon to my bank anywhere on the screen. I was presented only with a screen to enter the transit and account number manually. After I saved the banking screen the session ended straight away and my account was activated immediately. Seemed like an incomplete process at the time and as it turns out it was.

Thanks

@mdf_jersey

No, Managed Payments will be processing payments for both .ca and .com as well as some other ebay sites.

If you set up a Canadian dollar bank account and list on .com, your funds will be converted from US to Canadian with a 3% conversion charge and deposited into your account.

If you set up a $US dollar bank account at a Canadian bank and list on .com, its my understanding that your funds would be deposited into that account in $US.  They have said that we will be able to use a $US account however we don't have all of the details yet.
