Extreamly high shipping cost from US

Since the new "International shipping" i noticed very high shipping cost. Having a 50$ items with a 100-300$ shipping has become very common ... Is there any reason? Do seller see the total shipping cost? I definatly hope they dont pay the fee on that inflated price i dont see how that would be viable for a seller .... I would of been more active on my purchase if the shipping wasnt so high now

It's likely that the seller hasn't specified the dimensions of the packaging (many US sellers don't). eBay is probably taking some kind of worse case scenario for the category it was listed in.

While @flipistics  is probably right, we should also remember that the cost of shipping is unrelated to the value of the itemshipped.

What were the weight and the dimensions of your import?

Was it sent to eIS by Priority or by a cheaper service?

USPS rates have risen considerably in the past five years.
