I bought an item from someone and it arrived damaged with imprints from the seller writing on the envelope with the item inside. These imprints are VERY clear, my full name, postal code, name of street, all of it is legible and easy to notice as the indents can be felt. I want to return it but if the seller were to sell it again, that would leak my personal info. What can I do in this situation?
All the personal information is on the damaged envelope?
If it is on the envelope, and the item is resellable, most sensible sellers would discard the envelope. She needs, or wants, the envelope only to see what the damage was in case she can prevent damage to future shipments.
Like not pressing so hard when writing the address.
Or is the personal information on the damaged item? Is that what makes it damaged?
Are the imprints deep enough that the item is not resellable?
Communicate with the seller using photographs. Depending on what the item is, the imprints could make it unsellable in any case, in which case you can decide between you that is enough and there is no reason to spend money on return shipping.
But if it's good enough to keep, it's good enough to pay for.
