What is the procedure when buying a car? Do I have to pay the seller before he ships the car?

I want to buy a car and I'd like to know if I have to pay for it before the seller ships it to me and if so, what happens if I don't want to keep it?

Taking a big risk buying a vehicle on spec. You can't take delivery without paying and if it arrives not as described, seller is not going to take it back and you are then in a battle over your money which may never be recovered.

Never buy a car you have not taken for a test drive.

If you feel nervous now, don't spend any money.

Hmm-- did you find this car on eBay or have you been told that eBay will arrange money transfer for a vehicle found on another site?

EBay does not work with any other site. This is a scam so well known it even has a name "The Kubota Tractor Scam". If you found it on another site, there is no car, she isn't a widow or at sea on a oceanographic vessel, or in Iraq, there is no vehicle and if you send money you will never see it again.

generaly with motor vehicle transactions you pay a deposit of up to $1000 by paypal and pay the rest in person or by bankers draft when you pick up the vehicle.

You have the right to inspect the vehicle before paying and if you don't want to buy you can change your mind.

It would be very unusual for a seller to arange shipping.

Any further questions I would suggest you post on the eBay.com USA motor vehicles discussion board.
