You save money by buying them in a roll or booklet, with a P stamp always being the value of what the current Domestic stamp cost is. Today, 12.5.2019, that value is $1.05.

Canada Post is misleading.
The postage value of the stamp you buy for $1.05 is 90c.
The other 15c is a service charge for selling a single stamps.
If you want to send a 50 gram letter domestically, the rate is $1.27. You make this by using a P stamps (value 90c) and 37 cents in other postage.
If you add only 22 c to the P stamp, the counter clerk will demand that you add another nickel's worth of postage.
It looks like eBay sellers are expecting a busy January. My discount postage sales have been going strong.
