Shipping costs from US to Canada are rediculous. I will not purchase from the US again!!

I am so disappointed on what Ebay thinks shipping costs should be.  Just disgusting!!  I certainly will limit my cross boarder shopping online from now on.

Ebay does not set the shipping costs, the seller does based on what the post office charges. The high shipping is usually attributed to sellers who use the Global Shipping Program. With the GSP, the import fees are shown up front before the item is shipped rather than after the item reaches Canada.

It is understandable that you and many other buyers are unhappy with high GSP costs. Avoid the sellers who use the program.

In case you are not aware of it, the U. S. Post Office has been raising their rates basically every year for the past several years (when it used to be many years between rate hikes). Expect higher rates in 2014 as they are asking for another rate increase.

Nubian, this is not true. I am not able to set my own shipping costs, and I do not participate in GSP. If I sell a PC game and want to ship letter post (the cheapest method possible), Ebay will not let me charge more than $3.99 which is less than actual shipping cost. So I am forced to select higher cost shipping methods in order to avoid losing money.

It sounds like Ebay needs to revamp their rules for shipping. I certainly wouldn't expect a seller to get less for their product. But sounds like Ebay is making some on the side or they are sharing it with the post office!! Whatever I think I will be more careful with my purchases in the future.
