Someone wants me to send an item he bought to a differnet address than his paypal and ebay address

Someone with the name bought an item from me and didn't pay for 4 days. I opened an unpaid item case and this person finally pays on the 5th day. I am preparing the package and noticed the confirmed address on ebay and paypal is to a lady in South Carolina. I thought it would be someone from California. This guy emails me personally and tells me the address is wrong and I should ship to him in California. What should I do?

Anyone can have up to a dozen addresses on a Paypal account. They are often called "gift" addresses and that is usually how they are used.

The only restriction that I am aware of is that they have to be in the same country. (Canadians can't add a US address to a Canadian Paypal account.)

Tell you customer that you can't print out the Paypal shipping label with his California address on it until he adds his address to his account.  Which is true.

Be polite about this.

If you don't ship to an address listed on the PP account from which payment was made, you lose what little Seller Protection PP offers.

Usually this is not a problem and I've shipped to random addresses from time to time without problem. But in this case? No.
