paypal no longer does international payments .

My paypal account is in good standing, I used it a month ago for a US purchase, no problem. Today it states buyer and seller must be in the same country.  It even has a block on my credit card  that doesn't expire for a couple years. Anybody come across this and what's the answer? Robert

That sounds to me like a block initiated by the seller of the item you're trying to purchase. Paypal does allow its users accepting payments to prohibit foreign currencies. Have you tried speaking to the seller about it? Maybe they made an error with their settings.

The block came as a suprise and I could find no way of knowing if my paypal account was the problem, short of buying a diferent buyitnow item.

No, the only way you'd know if the problem was with your payapl account is if you called paypal Customer Service about it. Nonetheless, I doubt it had anything to do with you; I strongly suspect the seller had placed restrictions on their own account to limit their transactions to specific currencies so as not to incur extra paypal fees for currency conversion.
