Hi...here is another way of doing it...

Right click desktop.

Point to "New" then click  on "SHORTCUT"

In the destination text box, type in the URL for ebay

that is, http://www.ebay.ca/

Click next and then follow the screen prompts.

I don't know if it works the same with all systems but I have windows7 with ie9.

 (1) Go to http://www.ebay.ca

 (2)Miminize your screen.

 (3) Use the left button of your mouse to grab onto the little eBay icon that is to the left of the  http in the url.

 (4) Drag the icon onto your desktop and release it.
