Uploading data base for selling

I am new to selling on ebay, have only listed a few items to try things out. I currently list on another platform, but really need to expand to here if possible, I hear good things about Ebay selling. My problem is my database. I use Homebase and have about 8,000 books listed there. I have gotten differing answers regarding uploading my database as opposed to entering everything one at a time.

I've heard you have to supply a photo, and I've heard Ebay has stock photos of some items.

Also, I am not technically inclined, but have been told Homebase is not compatible with sites like Shopify and Bonanza, which I tried to join.

I've also had differing answers to the fees, and having a store, etc. So any help, advice, etc. will be gladly absorbed. Even if its to let me know definitively that it won't work out here.

THANK YOU

I uploaded my books over time, so I can't help with databases.

I've heard you have to supply a photo, and I've heard Ebay has stock photos of some items.

This one I do know about.

Yes, you are required to supply a picture.

I actually scan my titles, because flat things look better scanned and because the scans immediately go to my desktop.

And yes eBay's catalogue will supply a description and a picture for the ISBN you supply.

But.

The ISBN may not match the book you are holding.
I think they got the error fixed that supplied a picture and description of Lady Chatterley's Lover when some ISBNs for Anne of Green Gables were used.

But I don't trust any program to describe my books.

Also the catalogue is weak on non-US ISBNs as well as not recognizing early ones.

It's not a terrible catalogue any more, but it really only has the books that someone listed here before.

Oh yeah, eBay will make your pictures available to other sellers, if this upsets you, use a watermark on your pictures.

For questions about fees, stores etc. it's best to post each question separately.

Stores are in the future for you because when you start selling you will be restricted in the number and value of your listings for some time.

Another thought, eBay will restrict the number and value of your listings until you prove yourself.

So you won't be able to upload very many listings for the first few months anyway.

You can list manually at first while you get a feel for the place. By the time you can list more, you will have it down pat.

You can ask for more listings every 30 days.
