can i change a listing description once there has been a bid made on the item?

i have an item that i listed.   There was an initial bid made.   almost 24 hours later the bidder retracted their bid saying that i had changed the description.   As far as i am aware i am not able to change the listing once a bid is made.   I can make an addition to the description however i can not change the origianl description once the bid has been made.   \i am looking for comfirmation that this is correct.    The listing has not been touched by me since i initially posted it and they are claiming that i changed the description which i did not.   It is ok that they chose to cancel their bid however i am upset about them lying about the reason.   i absolutly did not change the description after they placed their bid

You are absolutely right, after a bid is made you can not make any changes (the main areas are all greyed out so it's impossible). You can, as you say make an addition afterwards, but those additions are put right at the very bottom with a note "Seller added the following information", so it's obvious to everyone it was added after a bid.  So don't worry, they probably felt they must make an excuse for changing their mind. I see all the time bids retracted with reason "entered wrong amount" but they never put in a new amount lol, they just plain changed their mind.

The only thing that could be possible, is if maybe they had been watching your item for a bit before bidding, and you made a change, but they didn't notice it and put their bid in. Not likely but still possible if you had made any changes after it was active.

We call that a LUCKY escape. move on, move on...

You listed an Auction.

You got a bid which was retracted.

The bidder claimed the description had been altered.

Have you Blocked that bidder?

You have not altered the description and it is correct.

Don't do anything, except to Block the nitwit.

No one knows about the nitwit's charges. Blocking them means they cannot play sillybuggers if they win.

EBay gives only a few reasons for cancelling bids, and likely they just chose one at random.

It's business, not personal.

They only did that so it would not go on their record. Did it to me multiple times and there is nothing you can do about it beside the point that E bay knows you did nit change anything.
