social insurance number

Hi.

Im from Canada. I use ebay.ca. I have never sold an item on ebay but have bought many things and been a member for years. I tried to sell an item and it asks for my date of birth and SSN, Im Canadian so i have a SIN but i asume it will work. I constanttly get the error "Something went wrong. Check....".

I have used different browsers and even put them in private mode.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

First, Canadians are only required to give our SIN to banks and to the federal government.

Others can request it, but we can (and should) refuse this very private information.

If you are being asked for your SSN (social security number) you are trying to sign into the dotCOM (American site).

While we can sell there, if you are registered in Canada, and want to sell, start with the dotCA (Canadian) site.

Make sure you are on dotCA in the URL line, then click on Sell-> Create Listing->Single Listing.

Let us know if you are still having problems.

Should we assume you have a Paypal account attached to your Canadian eBay account and that it is backed by a Canadian bank or by a credit card?
