why do you have to update the tracking on Ebay and not simply provide it when required

It can be a pain in the but to upload tracking numbers.  Furthermore I use it as my online way to expose fraudulent buyers of which there are so many.  You would think Ebay would like to know who is trying to claim non delivery even though they already got the item.  NOPE!  If you dont update it on their system and simply provide it by messaging to the customer and even to Ebay when asked for it, you will lose the case.  Unbelievable right?  How could this be?  It is because Ebay customer service is not really customer service but a massive run around masquarading as customer service.  I am certain that their job is simply to make you jump hoops, proove your case only to be denied and to frustrate buyers until it is no longer worth fighting even if you are right.  That is because they use third world customer service agents and it costs them so little to have them drag you along on an endless dead end.   The seller on the other hand is losing real money in time and is forced to give up.  That is how they do it.  I am 100% positive.    In the once in a lifetime case that you actually get an educated USA based customer service agent, you get actual customer service, issues resolved intelligently and instantly but most of the time it will take you 4 hours of wading through endless third world customer service agents with no authority to do anything but telll you someone will review it which I am sure is never actually passsed on to anyone.

If you use eBay labels the tracking is uploaded automatically and it is less expensive than using other Canada Post services. It's easy. Plus, the buyer then can follow the package as tracking updates. I personally don't follow tracking but some people do so it is a good idea to have it available for them. Even when I used another service, I found it took a few seconds to upload tracking.

I think that you are giving eBay motives that don't exist. They are millions of transactions on eBay daily and they simply want as much as possible to be automated. They don't want you contacting them telling them that you sent the tracking in messages, they want all of the information to upfront.

Selling on eBay is either a hobby or a job.

If it's a hobby, and you don't like doing it, perhaps another hobby would be more fun.

If it's a job, there will be parts you don't like.
