I have an unpaid invoice that the order was cancelled by the seller but now i can't get rid of it

To cancel the purchase the seller EITHER has to act within a few hours of your purchase, which is very new and I don't know how it plays out, except that the buyer is always annoyed.

 

OR ask you for a Mutual Cancellation.

 

If you agree to the MC, both of you are released from the transaction, he gets his fees back, and both of you can leave feedback.

If you ignore the MC, it will close in seven days, both of you are released from the transaction, he gets his fees back, and both of you can leave feedback. 

If you refuse the MC, the transaction remains live, you are still required to pay and he is still required to ship. Although that is not likely to happen. He pays fees on your live purchase. You can both leave feedback.

 

Or did he open an Unpaid Item Dispute?

That's more serious. If you do not pay, you get a Strike that makes it harder for you to bid on eBay in future. He gets his fees back. And neither of you can leave feedback.
