When you have an item that is not as described, you send it back at your expense. Some sellers will reimburse you the out of pocket shipping but they are not required to. You can send a "send money" request through Paypal for the out of pocket shipping fee. As for your original shipping, that would be fully refunded as well as the original price you paid once there is electronic proof the item was delivered to the seller.
I have heard of situations in which a seller sent a buyer shipping costs or sometimes even a full refund before the item was returned. Instead of sending the item the buyer claimed was defective or not as described, they kept the item. This is why you must pay to ship it back to the seller and once you can prove to paypal the item was delivered, paypal will refund you if the seller doesn't.
There are probably fakes on Amazon as well as on ebay. If you buy from China, 99.99% of the time the item is fake. If you buy something that is drastically reduced from it's normal retail price, it's highly likely a fake. Fake are prevelent all over because too many people want expensive items for a dirty cheap price. If you want the real thing, you have to pay the real price and it is smart not to buy highly counterfeited items from anyone not authorized to sell the item.
I don't know what you bought but high end products are never sold through mom and pop sellers or at wholesale prices.
