Seller finally issued a Canada Post return label on Wednesday, November 13 at 12:41 AM (EST) for a not-as-described order (days after my requests for a return label).
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) issued notice on Tuesday, November 12 at 12:00 AM (EST) of its intention to disrupt normal Canada Post delivery services with strike actions. If the parties do not come to an agreement this week, the strike is expected to begin on Friday, November 15 at 12:00 AM (EST).
eBay writes,
"Please make sure to print the label and ship the item back by Nov 26.Once your item is delivered, you can expect a refund within 3 business days."
Is there any extension if the parcel gets delayed or lost due to the postal strike?
It is not my choice to have it returned by Canada Post. That's the label supplied by the seller.
Will I lose my refund if Canada Post does not deliver the item to the seller by Nov 26 for whatever reason?
I will of course make sure it's taken to the local post office and have it scanned into the system. This item took 4 calendar days to be delivered to me.
Any advice and insights will be much appreciated. Thank you.
If the label was issued and paid for by the seller they are responsible if the parcel gets lost or damaged during transit. As long as you have the package scanned by the post office so that eBay knows it has been mailed you should be covered. After it has been mailed if you don't see the tracking number on the transaction you might want to contact eBay customer service so that they can add the tracking. If I were you I would keep a copy of the label just so that you have all of the information.
There is something in the help pages stating that whoever pays for the return label is the the one responsible for the parcel but I always have a tough time finding it. I will have another look later on as I know that is there.
Thank you. I didn't know about the label rule either. eBay now says refund by Dec 3.
I even took photos and videos of the outside of the unopened package. I shipped it inside a slightly bigger box with the packing slip because eBay asked me to put the packing slip "inside the package" and I absolutely do not want to tamper with the contents of the original package.
There was no communication from the seller at all after I had paid. I opened an "item not received" case two days after the last day of estimated delivery. Instead of issuing me a refund, the seller then rushed to generate a mailing label. Before he had shipped it, I asked the seller to simply issue a refund with the explanation that it'd be returned if he went ahead to send it (on eBay's advice). He decided to ship it the next day anyway.
During this dispute, the seller also asked me to close the case in order to receive a refund. eBay told me not to close the case. It's now a new "item not as described" case opened by eBay. Because of all these red flags, I'm not wanting to know what's inside the box.
