Seller overcharging for shipping, made me pay 15$ for it but send the package with a 1.94$ stamp.

I recently won an auction with  15$ shipping price for a small collectible, I was expecting a Tracking number and all at that price point, but this time I received  as a regular enveloppe with a 1.94$ stamp. I'm feeling ripped off.  Can I ask for a partial refund or do I need to contact ebay directly?

The bottom line price (shipping +purchase+ sales tax)  is what you paid for the card.

How the seller comes to that price is between him and his deity of choice.

He may have reversed the price of the card and the shipping cost as a marketing strategy to make the card seem cheaper, for example.

Which is cheapest? A $10 card plus $15 shipping or a $15 card plus $10 shipping?

Or a $25 card with Free Shipping?

The seller pays his fees on the bottom line (including a fee on the sales taxe which he never touches).

One other possibility is it could have been an oversight by the seller. Shipped using the incorrect service in error/in a rush. Good to note  any small amount over would be tax (GST/PST/HST) on postage and then a handling charge to cover time and shipping supplies. Unfortunately those items are not free. 15.00 does sound excessive, so you could message and politely question the discrepancy. Unfortunately if a Canadian seller is listing on dot com they only have access to generic shipping options. This can cause confusion from time to time.  CP services are not available.

I would bet this is a trading card, it's common in this category. People state to ship expedited shipping and if they see the auction don't go high enough, they keep that money and ship lettermail. I experienced your situation a few times and felt the same way

Never found any solution about this situation but this should clearly be against rules. This is literally a scam. At the moment the only thing i know we can do is leaving the seller a negative feedback for it

If the seller did not stated to ship expedited/tracking in the listing tho he did nothing wrong. We can charge the amount we want for handling. It's shipping & handling cost. It's wrong if they lie on the shipping method to keep the money, they do not respect the terms of the sale

eBay generally doesn’t get involved with shipping cost disputes. You and the seller will have to work this out yourselves.

What shipping method was stated in the listing?
