Take the nominal rate visible on ebay and add 4% to be near actual when paying . PayPal charges a 2.5 % conversion fee.

The exchange rate just changed again. And again. And again.

This is not a fixed rate. Not for time of day. Not for any given bank.

Ask you bank for their buy and sell rates, then ask the bank across the street, then ask the foreign exchange shop. All will have different rates and they will change later today.

Further, the 'exchange rate' quoted in the newspaper or on sites like xe.com, is based on interbank transactions of millions of dollare (and yuan and euros and pesos).

And of course, financial institutions add service fees. The servivec fees for your bank and for Paypal are similar. Close enough for rock and roll any way.

Being dysnumeric, (like dyslexic but with numbers) I find it easiest to buy and sell in US dollars and only notice the exchange rate when I move money from Paypal to my bank.
