Hello
new eBay user from CANADA. I would like to see INTERNATIONALLY to USA. I have a listing up but it will not let me choose USA. When potential buyers from USA look at listing they get this error message...Shipping cost cannot be calculated. Please enter a valid ZIP Code...and i do but still does not work. Bottom line a buyer from the USA can not determine my shipping costs from CANADA. Absolutely ridiculous. Been on phone with eBay 8-10x and they have no fix, hilarious! I would assume that this would be easy by now. Any thoughts or suggestions. If i choose Fed ex or UPS it wants me to put in a fixed cost. How would I know what the fixed cost will be if i do not know the buyers location. furthermore i would have to input this info for each buyer that messages me, ridiculous. Any help to solve this as the ebay staff have no idea, after 3 days now! Thanks

If you are using expedited US or Xpresspost, it’s possibke that the dimensions that you’ve entered are less than rather minimum allowed for those services. The min. for expedited US is 21 cm x 14cm x 5mm.
The min. for Xpresspost US is 21cmx14cmx 1mm.
For example, if the dimensions entered are 21 x 12x 5 the eBay calculator wouldn’t work because 1 side is less than the minimum. Note that similar services within Canada allow for the package to be smaller which is why the calculator may work for Canada but not for the US.
I noticed that on at least 1 listing you have Xpresspost US as the service provided. That is quite a bit more expensive than expedited and isn’t that much faster.

BTW - I understand the impulse to offer multiple shipping services, but frankly your buyer will pay for the cheapest service and expect the top level upgrades.
Pick one. If the buyer asks for faster service, you can let him know how much that will cost. Most will then go with the cheap service you published.
On an even more cynical note, since you will be dealing with 'spiritual' people, expect to get a lot of demanding, high maintenance scammers. The actual religious practice doesn't matter. I rarely use tracking myself, but with any product that has any religious or spiritual connection, from ouija boards to hijabs to bibles to yarmulkas, use tracking.

Are you trying to list here on eBay Canada?
The customer reps in Utah have difficulty with concepts like 'Canada' and "Not in the USA".
If you are on the dotCA form, my info will work.
But you mention zipcodes which makes me think you are using the dotCOM form.
No problem, most Canadians use both.
If you are using the dotCOM form, USA is 'domestic shipping'. You have to use "Flat Rate shipping from an International Location". It's fairly low on the dropdown menu.
And then when you want to ship to Canada, you find it under International Shipping as described above.
How would I know what the fixed cost will be if i do not know the buyers location.
If you want to use Calculated Shipping and you are shipping from Canada, you have to use the dotCA form.
Otherwise, research and guesswork, like the rest of us.

If you are shipping internationally, it will be useful to have that link bookmarked.
If you have a Small Business Solutions card (free from Canada Post- check that website) you may get discounts on most services when buying shipping labels through SnapShip, Paypal or Shippo.
Are you using metric measurements? Canada Post went metric in 1974 and anything else is guesswork.
Did you notice that under International Service on the Sell Your Item form, you can Choose Custom Location? Just choose USA from that list.
Now notice Offer Another Service? Again Choose Custom Location and pick the overseas destinations you are likely to be shipping to.
Now you have two foreign shipping prices.
NOTE- once you choose USA do NOT choose North and South America. Trust me.
You can make different price by clicking Offer Another Service again.
For example, you may want to charge more for Australia or Russia than for UK or Europe.
Even lower on the page you can Exclude Shipping Locations, if you don't want to ship to Russia or Africa.

What shipping method are you using for your books? Small Packet USA has a limit of 1 kg so you can't use that.
